Rosaria "Rose" Sansone
Rose Sansone passed away on October 23, 2001 after fighting a courageous ten-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born in Lioni, Italy on Christmas Eve 1940 and immigrated to New York with her family in 1958. She met and married her husband, Giovanni, in New York in 1966. They honeymooned in Carmel, fell in love with California, and settled in San Rafael and finally Novato. They owned and operated Giovanni's Restaurant in Novato for many years. She enjoyed gardening at home and hiking on Mt. Burdell. As a daughter and a sister, Rose helped raise her younger siblings. She was a devoted mother and wife. We admired her for her great strength and love for her family. She was a blessing to all and taught us so much. She left us with the wisdom to live a life of loving and caring for one another. Even up until the last hours of her life she was able to bring us closer together than we ever thought possible. Her only grandchild, Isabella, was "Nonna's" little angel. Rose passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends, on Isabella's third birthday. We could not have asked for anything more special. Rose is survived by her husband Giovanni, and their loving children John, Rosanna, Michael and his wife Donna, and granddaughter Isabella Rose; mother Antonia Soriano Tuosto, brothers Michelangelo, Vito, Pasquale, Antonio, and sister Filomena all of New York; brother Nicholas of San Rafael; and two nephews and eight nieces. She was preceded in death by her father Nicola Amato Tuosto and her brothers Gerardo and Francesco. Friends can gather for a Vigil Service Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church, and are invited to attend the Funeral Mass Friday, October 26, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto, 1806 Novato Blvd., Novato. Interment follows at Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael, CA. For information, contact Adobe Creek Funeral Home, 707-789-9000. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in her name to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 3 Forest Street, New Canaan, CT 06840, 203-972-1250.
