BRAY, Sister M. Laura, OP, 90, of San Rafael, passed away October 21, 2001. Keaton's, San Rafael, 415-453-0571.
Sister M. Laura Bray, OP
Sister Laura Bray, a Dominican Sister of San Rafael for 69 years, died on October 21, 2001 at Lourdes Convent in San Rafael. She was 90 years of age. Sister Laura, a native of San Francisco, entered the Dominican Sisters upon graduation from Notre Dame High School. For over 40 years, Sister Laura ministered as teacher and administrator at St. Dominic School, Los Angeles, St. Dominic School, San Francisco, St. Thomas School, Reno, St. Mary School, San Leandro, St. Raphael School, San Rafael, St. Michael School, Livermore, and S. John Vianney School, Rancho Cordova. Upon retirement, Sister Laura served at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno in admitting and chaplaincy until 1987. For a short while, Sister Laura provided volunteer services at San Domenico in San Anselmo before moving to Lourdes Convent. Sister Laura is survived by her brothers Frank Bray and Kevin Bray, her nephew Rev. Kevin Bray, nieces Maureen Bray, Bonnie Bray Doak, Karen Bray, Kristine Kain, Kathleen Bray and many great nieces and nephews. Her brother, Harry Bray died in 1930. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2001 at the Dominican Sisters Center, 1520 Grand Avenue, San Rafael at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Dominic Cemetery in Benicia.
