Leonard Puccinelli
San Anselmo resident
Leonard Charles Puccinelli, a world class professional rifle and shotgun shooter, died Dec. 10. He was 66.
Mr. Puccinelli was born in San Francisco and graduated from the University of San Francisco.
The 42-year San Anselmo resident was a designer and importer of high-grade shotguns, and operated a shop before moving the business to his home. During his career, he won more than 100 national and international shooting competitions, according to his brother Louis Puccinelli of San Anselmo, and established a world record for shooting consistency at a competition in Managua, Nicaragua.
He was the U.S. Intercollegiate Rifle Champion and Captain of the All American Team, the winner of 13 California state and national shooting titles, and the only American to win a national West German Shooting title record score, among many other awards.
Mr. Puccinelli was a life member of the National Rifle Association and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was also active in his religious worship.
In addition to his brother, Mr. Puccinelli is survived by his mother, Lola Puccinelli of San Anselmo; daughter, Hollis E. Dunnway of Novato; and a nephew.
A private family service was held.
