THOMAS BURKELL

Thomas R. Burkell, a Sausalito plumbing contractor, died yesterday at a San Francisco hospital following a long illness. He was 60.

Born in San Francisco, Burkell had operated his plumbing business at 515 Easterby Street in Sausalito for the past 25 years.

He was member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Sea Point Parlor 158, and the Sonoma Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Burkell of Sausaito; two sons, Robert T. Burkell of Tiburon and Dennis M. Burkell of Mill Valley; a daughter, Marilyn Winsett of Sausalito; three sisters, Alma Lee and Hazel Canepa of San Francisco and Bernice Carson of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapels in Mill Valley. Burial will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Contributions to the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco are preferred.
