JAMES L. ZIEGLER

James L. Ziegler of San Rafael, a Marin resident for about 20 years, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. He was 58.

He was a native of Washington State, where he attended the University of Washington and was awarded a master’s degree in forestry and wood technology.

He served in the Army Airborne Engineers from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theater.

Following World War II, Ziegler went to work for the Borden Co. in the chemical division. He later joined the Arthur D. Little Co. of San Francisco. He moved to Tiburon about 1956 and later to San Rafael.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two sons, William J. Ziegler and Jeffrey D. Ziegler, both of San Rafael; a daughter, Janet Scott of Petaluma; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Belvedere. The family prefers memorial donations to a favorite charity.
