MRS. CRUTHERS

Memorial service for Maxine Elizabeth Cruthers of San Anselmo will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in San Rafael.

Mrs. Cruthers, of 8 Florence Avenue, died Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was 52.

She was born in Lincoln, Neb., and came to Marin County 28 years ago when she married her husband, Jerald (Jerry) Cruthers, who survives her. Employed as a nurse’s aide in convalescent hospitals, she decided to get an Associate of Arts degree from the College of Marin. She studied for 10 years and had the necessary credits in June, but she died before the degree could be conferred on her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Archie Cruthers of the home.

She donated her body to scientific research at the University of California.

Memorial contributions to a favorite charity would be preferred by the family.
