Frederick H. Evans
Age 93, of Sacramento died Thursday, October 11, 2001 at his home. Called "Harry" by his friends, he lived in San Rafael from 1956-1999. Born in Millom, England in 1908, he came to the United States in 1926 and lived in Chicago with his parents. Married in 1936 to Mary Jo Keeney (who died in San Rafael in 1992), he is survived by his son, Jack of Sacramento; his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dick Sowell of Tacoma, Washington; and their children, Carrie and Peter. Harry, a retired office manager, was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also played semi-professional soccer, loved fishing and bowling and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. Harry, kind and generous, brought so much joy and happiness to those whose lives he touched -- to know him was to love him. Harry will join his wife, Mary Jo, at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. No formal services are planned, but a paying of last respects will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2001.
