D. J. JAMIESON
Daniel J. Jamieson, 56, a retired Petaluma fire captain, died yesterday at a local hospital after collapsing at his home.
The Sonoma County coroner’s office said that death was apparently caused by a head injury suffered in a fall at his home at 714 I Street last week.
A lifelong resident of Petaluma, Jamieson worked as an auto mechanic before joining the fire department. He served as an engineer in the Navy in World War II and was on one of the PT boats that rescued John F. Kennedy from PT 109 in the South Pacific.
After the war, Jamieson rejoined the fire department and retired in August with the rank of captain. He was a member of the Petaluma Lodge 180 Free and Accepted Masons, American legion Post 28, the International Association of Fire Fighters and held a life membership in the Affiliated government employees.
He is survived by his mother, Thora A. Jamieson and a brother, Hale L. Jamieson, both of Petaluma.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Parent Funeral Chapel, Petaluma. Burial will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital, San Francisco.
