Suicide at San Quentin
On Thursday last Coroner Eden went to San Quentin to hold an inquest on the body of C. B. SMITH, a convict who had been in the pen for a few months. The verdict was that Smith had committed suicide on the evening of September 11, by cutting his throat with a case knife after having been locked up in his cell for the night. He was about 50 years of age.
