BYINGTON, Lewis Ryan, 81, of San Anselmo, passed away October 2, 2001. Neptune Society of Northern California, 415-898-1868.
Lewis Ryan Byington
Age 81, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001 in his home in San Anselmo, California. Mr. Byington was born in San Francisco, CA. While attending U.C. Berkeley, he was a member or the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He graduated in 1941and then served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps in China, Burma and India during the Second World War. After the war, he attended and graduated from Hastings Law School. Later, Mr. Byington pursued a lifelong career in accounting. He raised his family in Newport Beach, California; and after the death of his then wife, Cosette Rowe, Mr. Byington retired and resettled in San Francisco, whereupon he married Janet (Jinny) Clifton Livermore - a lifelong friend. Mr. Byington held positions in financial management with Price Waterhouse, Young Spring & Wire Company, First American Title & Insurance, and Purex Industries. He served local communities as the President of the Lido Isle Community Association (LICA) and the Fallen Leaf Lake Community Association. He was active in supporting the San Francisco Symphony and Opera and contributed to the League to Save Lake Tahoe. He is survived by his wife Jinny, two sons, Lewis and Arthur, sister Ann of Chatham, Massachusetts and stepchildren Richard, Thomas and William. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to your favorite charity or to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231-4596. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 12th at 2:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin, 2325 Union St. (at Steiner), San Francisco.
