Death Ends Career Of Prominent Woman
Mrs. Edward G. (Alice) Younger, 56, prominent local choir director and church worker, died this morning at San Rafael General Hospital.
Directions to the funeral parlor indicated however that Mrs. Younger’s spirit still lives in her work, as the funeral notice from the Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael, specifically asked that friends contribute to charity organizations in place of sending floral offerings to her funeral.
Mrs. Younger, who had resided at 1119 C street for the past six years, was a member of the Home Service Committee, Marin County Chapter, Red Cross, and choir director and president of the Woman’s Auxiliary of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, San Rafael. She had been in the hospital only a week.
Mrs. Younger, who lived in the county for 17 years, is survived by her husband, two sons, Lt. Joseph M. Younger, U.S.A. (stationed in Florida), and Edward G. Younger, and three daughters, Harriet B., Elizabeth A. and Sally A. Younger. A sister and two brothers also survive. They are Mrs. Edith J. Ripley and Arthur B. and Gilbert H. Meese.
Arrangements for the funeral are pending at the Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael.
