Rosamund C. Reynolds
Born August 26, 1913 in Leominster, Massachusetts and died, at home, September 30, 2001 in Greenbrae, California. Roz and her husband, James Robert Reynolds, moved to Marin County in 1969. Her husband died in 1988. An artist, Roz studied fashion design at Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City in the 1930's and designed costumes for Brooks Theater and Beaux Arts Balls. In the Bay Area years, Roz worked with Ann O'Hanlon at Sight & Insight in Mill Valley and had an exhibit of her work at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Roz, a fourth generation Unitarian, was a member, a religious educator, and active in district work at First Church, Leominster, Massachusetts, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marin, and of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Larger Fellowship. She served as an Officer of the Unitarian Universalist Association in Boston in the early 1960's. She served as a Trustee of Thomas Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley in the 1970's and as the Chair of the Aurelia Henry Reinhardt Core Committee that raised the endowment for a professorship at the seminary. She was granted the honorary degree, Litterarum Humanarum Doctor, from Starr King School in 1979. She was personally supportive of many students and graduates as they explored and entered religious leadership. Roz was a Member of the League of Women Voters. She was active in her church and community in those issues that involved women, world peace and civil rights. A Memorial Service will be held on October 19th at 1 p.m., at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marin, 240 Channing Way, San Rafael, 415-479-4131.
