LAYDELL BURGESS

Funeral arrangements were pending today for Laydell Burgess, 50, a San Quentin Prison inmate.

Burgess died Friday in the prison hospital, probably of cardiac arrest, according to the Marin County coroner’s office. He had been ill for several days and was hospitalized on Wednesday.

Burgess, 50, was sent to San Quentin July 17, 1973, for parole violation. He originally was convicted of armed robbery in San Bernardino.

Prison officials said Burgess is survived by his father and a sister.

The body is at Daphne Funeral of Marin.
