Hamilton Field Flier Killed In Jet Crash
First Lt. Lawrence W. Kane, 78th Jet Fighter Wing, was killed instantly Saturday when his F-84 jet fighter plane failed to pull out of a dive at Moose Lake Air Base in Washington, Hamilton Field authorities reported today.
Kane, 23, rode to his death when his plane failed to pull out of a dive on an air-to-ground gunnery pass during maneuvers in Washington.
The plane struck the target and dug into the earth.
No explanation for the accident was offered. The Air Corps said Kane’s home town was Parma, Ohio.
