GERTRUDE F. OWEN

The funeral for Gertrude F. “Trude” Owen, a former longtime Marin resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery Chapel in San Rafael.

Mrs. Owen died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1987, at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla after a short illness. She was 84.

She was born in San Francisco and grew up in San Quentin Village, where her father was captain of the prison jute mill. Later, she moved to Mill Valley and, in the mid-1930s, she went to San Diego.

Mrs. Owen was a third generation Californian. Her family migrated from Ireland and founded the town of Dublin in the East Bay.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth M. Owen of Pebble Beach, and two grandchildren. Her husband, Meredith Owen, died in 1975.
