JOHN MICHAEL MILTENBERGER

Funeral for 14-year-old John Michael Miltenberger of Novato, who collapsed during a Babe Ruth baseball game Friday, was held today at Grace Lutheran Church in Novato.

John, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Miltenberger of 1397 Donna Street, collapsed in the outfield at 6:37 p.m. Efforts to revive him failed and he was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m. at Novato General Hospital.

The boy’s coach, Warren P. Laufer, said John hit a triple in the previous inning and was playing right field when he collapsed. Taken from the San Marin High School diamond, he was given oxygen at a firestation on San Marin Drive, then taken to the hospital. Results of an autopsy are pending.

A native of San Francisco, he had lived in Novato five years and graduated this month from Hill Junior High School. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Babe Ruth League.

He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Eilise Ann, Deborah Ursula and Elizabeth, all of the home, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Rehbein of Point Reyes Station and Mr. and Mrs. George Lauinger of Towner, N.D.
