KLEEGE, Theodore Alexander, passed away September 29, 2001. Keaton's Redwood Chapel, Novato, 415-897-1151.


Theodore Alexander Kleege, Sept. 11, 1917 - Sept. 29, 2001
Born in Lincoln Nebraska to Karl and Selma Kleege, with siblings Mylda Kleege Bishop and Robert Kleege. Ted was brought up on a farm in Denton Nebraska. His parents were from Riga Latvia. They returned to Riga in the mid 30s and he joined the CCC camp and came to California. After the war, he returned to Lincoln, Nebraska and met and married May Boyte. They had four children: Joyce, Robert, Richard and Roger. His wife died in 1981 and son Robert died in 1983. He supported his family by working in large factories, home construction and management. For the last 16 years, he has been the manager of NOVA RO II which is a 56-unit apartment complex built for seniors by the Novato Rotary Club. He was a member in the Fraternal Orders of Eagles, Moose and Elks; Margaret Todd Center, Novato Independent Elders and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Ted has received many civic honors and awards for his work with Novato and Marin County seniors. He was a life long staunch Democrat. He was a man of great physical strength, quick witted, tender hearted, and devoted to his family. He loved little children, animals, music, friends (some of whom he has known for 80 years) family gatherings, parties, playing cards, dancing, and working crossword puzzles. He was the first to lend a helping hand and always had enough to share with those in need. Ted had a stroke on July 8th from which he passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 29th. He is survived by his brother, Robert Kleege, nephews, Bruce and Nevin Kleege, sister-in-law, Margaret Kleege; daughter, Joyce Kleege Seaton, son-in-law, Jim Seaton, grandsons, Norman Bouchal, Kristofer Seaton and his wife Roxanne Seaton; sons: Richard, Roger and his wife, Merry; great granddaughters, Shanteunelle and Jordan Bouchal; great grandson, Kody Kristofer Seaton; nephew, Elvin Bishop; niece, Mary Kate Bishop-Meadows (children of Mylda Bishop, deceased). Extended family: Donald Lohmeier, Delana, Saber, and Roman Heidrich, Elvin and Marina Meadows, Cara and Emily Bishop. Friends are invited to attend the viewing at Keaton's Redwood Chapel of Marin, 1801 Novato Boulevard between 1:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3rd. His funeral is at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1180 Lynwood Drive, Novato at 10 a.m. Thursday morning, October 4th. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park in Novato, California. Memorial contributions may be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund or Good Shepherd Lutheran School at 1180 Lynwood Drive, Novato, CA 94947.
