DORRIS STEWART
Funeral for Mrs. Dorris Stewart, widow of a former owner and superintendent of the San Rafael Military Academy, will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael.
Mrs. Stewart, 50, died Saturday in her home on El Cerrito Avenue, San Rafael, after a long illness.
She was the widow of Alpheus Lloyd Stewart, who was owner and superintendent of the San Rafael Military Academy for about 30 years until his death in 1948. Her husband also operated the Tamalpais School for Boys at one time.
Mrs. Stewart was born in San Francisco and came to live in Marin County 34 years ago.
She was a graduate of University of California and a member of Alpha Delta Phi sorority.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Meadow Club and a director of the Marin Symphony. She was a member of the Sunny Hills Auxiliary and served as a volunteer in the Red Cross during World War II.
Surviving are a son, James J. Stewart of San Rafael; three daughters, Susan Clare Stewart of San Rafael, Mrs. Sally Marie Dunn of Santa Cruz, and Mrs. Mary Nuckols of Burlingame.
Burial will be private.
