MARTINIS, William A. "Mort" of Marin/Sonoma Co. passed away August 22, 2001 Neptune Society, Northern California, 415-898-1868.

William A. "Mort" Martinis

Passed away peacefully in his sleep, August 22, 2001, in Sonoma. Mort was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, April 7, 1931. The family moved to Coronado in January 1942, and he graduated from Coronado High in 1949. He attended San Diego State College and then enlisted in the Navy when the Korean War started. After completing his tour of duty, he moved to San Francisco. He was a longtime Bay Area resident, living in Sausalito, Tiburon and Sonoma. He worked for years in the real estate offices of Sally Hetrich, and of Frank Howard Allen. For a time, he also owned and operated a framing shop in Sausalito. Audiences of Pelican Players in Tiburon were treated to many a good laugh by his local stage performances.

Mort is survived by his son, Kelso P. Martinis; daughter, Alexandria Davenport; and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joanne Martinis Hakes, her husband and children of Coronado.

Donations in Mort's memory may be made to the Chula Vista Nature Center, 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive, Chula Vista, CA.
