His Name Was Smith

Coroner E. Eden has been diligently searching for facts about the man who was drowned a week or more ago. On Tuesday he visited the city and upon showing a photo of the dead man to a wholesale furniture house learned that his name was George H. Smith, and that he had been purchasing materials for mending chairs from them from time to time.

He was about 45 years of age and spoke German, and for some time had been traveling over the Pacific Coast mending chairs for a living. About two years ago he had some money in the German Savings and Loan Bank at San Francisco, but had drawn it out.
