LEONARDI, Louis H., 98, of San Rafael, passed away September 19, 2001. Keatons, San Rafael, 415-453-0571.


Louis H. Leonardi
Died Wednesday, September 19, 2001 in San Rafael, age 98. He was born February 14, 1903, in San Francisco. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley; his son Henry; a daughter Louise; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a stepson Gary.

An electrician and electrical contractor by trade, he was a 96 year resident of San Rafael. Starting as a young man, he built an electrical contracting business, that at one time spanned the state of California with jobs at the Oregon and Mexican borders at the same time. During World War II, Louis contributed to the war effort by performing electrical installations and repairs at various military airfields and Navy shipyards. L.H. Leonardi Electric Construction Company was one of the original contractors to install lighting on the San Rafael Richmond Bridge when it was built.
An accomplished smooth dancer, Lou and Shirley entered and won dancing competitions. He also enjoyed dancing at several social clubs he belonged to. After retiring, Lou became a travel enthusiast, traveling to many points around the globe. His favorite place to visit was the village where his father was born in Northern Italy.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 22, 2001, at Keaton Mortuary, San Rafael, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Burial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday morning at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Keaton Mortuary, 1022 E. Street, San Rafael, CA 94901, (415)453-0571.
