BROWN, Honor D., 93, of San Anselmo, passed away September 10, 2001. Pacific Interment Services, 453-9940.

Honor D. Brown, A Resident of San Anselmo
Died peacefully on September 10, 2001 at age 93. Mrs. Brown moved to Marin County in 1955 with her family, taught kindergarten at A.E. Kent School in Kentfield until her retirement in 1972. Subsequently, she volunteered her skills as a reading tutor with the Marin Literacy Program, and was honored in 1998 for her ten years of dedicated service. She was also active in the local chapter of the American Association of University Women, and enjoyed her membership in the Marin retired Teachers' Association.

Originally from Arizona and Southern California, and educated at UCLA, Honor married Judd Brown of Humboldt County in 1930. They eventually settled in Arcata, where Mrs. Brown became a demonstration teacher at Children's Elementary School, an affiliate of Humboldt State College, while raising her family.

Sometimes referred to as "a legend in the Kentfield School District," Mrs. Brown was valued for her effective teaching and professional leadership. A friend and former colleague says of her, "she was the best at whatever she undertook. She influenced many, many lives in a positive and encouraging way."

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and David Sievers of San Rafael, and by her daughter Sue Brown of San Francisco.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Death and Dignity Alliance, P.O. Box 98058, Washington, D.C. 20090-8058.
