O'BRIEN, John Skidmore, 68, of Larkspur, passed away September 18, 2001. Neptune Society, Novato, 415-898-1868.
John Skidmore O'Brien, A Resident of Larkspur
Died peacefully in his home on September 18, 2001, with his wife, Linnea O'Brien at his side. Born in San Francisco, he lived a rich and remarkably full life in his 68 years, practicing residential architecture since 1957. His inspired designs, including his own waterside home in Larkspur, are scattered amidst the Marin County hills he loved so much. He was a man known for his love of the water, an accomplished sailor at a very young age, a skilled boat builder who, in recent years, developed a passion for windsurfing and outrigger canoeing. Anyone who knew him will tell you these pursuits had more to do with the friends he came to know and love than the sports themselves. Our lives are all richer for knowing him, a loving father and husband, a fiercely loyal friend and a truly good man. He was one of a kind, and the best kind there is!
He is survived by his wife, his sister, Deborah O'Brien, and his three sons, Peter, Josh and Matt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Brain Tumor Foundation, 414 Thirteenth Street, Suite 700, Oakland, CA 94612.
