FEDERIGHI, George Joseph, 90, of Tiburon, passed away September 14, 2001. Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill Valley, 415-388-1573.


George Joseph Federighi, A Resident of Tiburon

Passed away September 14, 2001 at age 90 years. Father of George B., Robert J., and William D. Federighi, five grandchildren, former husband of Donna Drews, and long time companion Sylvia Baraff.

He was a native of San Francisco and lived in Tiburon for the last 40 years. George was the founder of the Federighi Food Machinery, Inc., Stero Dishwashing Machine Manufacturing Company and Cork Pops Inc. He was an avid inventor who invented the wine cork remover called "Cork Pops", a champagne bottle opener, and a garlic peeler for restaurants. He spent the past 18 years tinkering in his workshop and coming up with many more inventions. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Friends are invited to attend a Vigil Service Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel, 270 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley. Friends may call for visitation Thursday after 2 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Friday, September 21, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Hilary's Church, 761 Hilary Drive, Tiburon. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts preferred to Hospice of Marin, 150 Nellen Avenue, Corte Madera, CA 94925.
