Death of a Pioneer
A California pioneer, who was a summer resident of San Rafael, died at his home in this city June 4th of heart failure after a few days illness, although he had been in poor health for several months. Louis Sloss was a native of Bavaria, 79 years of age, and was regarded as one of the wealthy and most substantial businessmen of San Francisco. He was a real benefactor, having assisted many to assist themselves, and donated many thousands to charitable purposes. He reared a family of several children, one of whom occupies the honorable position of Judge of the Superior Court of San Francisco. He had many friends in San Rafael who sympathize with the family in their loss.
