Suicide in Mill Valley

On Monday morning Coroner Eden was notified that a young man aged 19 years by the name of Zelandio Borgeson, had committed suicide by hanging himself in the Mill Valley town jail. Mr. Eden went to the Valley and held an inquest. The young man was the son of Mrs. Josephine Borgeson, and has been employed as driver of a bus. He had been arrested at 6 o'clock Saturday morning by a constable on complaint of his mother who charged him with disturbing the peace. It seems the mother had warned him not to stay out at night and when he went home Friday night the door was locked. He forced his way into the house and for this the mother had him arrested, and the constable placed him in jail before a warrant was sworn out. The boy is reported to have expressed himself as being tired of the treatment he received, and while in a despondent mood he tore a strip off of a blanket in the jail, fastened it to a rafter and hung himself.

It is stated that the mother exhibited no feeling over the fate of her son, and she refused to look at the body or to have it taken to her home. Mr. Eden brought the body to San Rafael for interment in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.

There is much feeling against the mother in Mill Valley, and much sympathy for the boy who is reported to be sober and industrious.

Friends in the Valley report that there is due the young man for labor over $150.
