Death of an Estimable Lady
One of the most lamentable deaths that has occurred in many years in Marin County, is that of Mrs. Nellie Gallagher, wife of Daniel Gallagher of Pt. Reyes Station.
Death is always sad, but when the grim reaper selects as his victim, one who has not yet run the course of nature, but who stands only at the threshold of an assured useful and active life, the shock comes with unmitigated force and severity. Mrs. Gallagher was but 25 years of age, and was a person of untiring energy and zeal. She was a woman of uncommon generosity and kindness. Although she had lived in Marin County but a comparatively short time, she made very many and dear friends. A few years ago, she married Daniel Gallagher, a son of the late Edward Gallagher and Katherine Gallagher, the latter now residing at North Bend Ranch, and thereby became connected with one of the best known and most highly respected families in the County. The union was one of perfect love and harmony. In the death of his wife, Daniel Gallagher lost a helpmate indeed, and their two little children a most kind and devoted mother.
[NOTE: the name was given as Lizzie Gallagher in the previously posted Marin Journal account]
