FISCHER, Benhardt B., Sr., 85, formerly of San Rafael, passed away August 14, 2001. Neptune Society, San Diego, CA.
Benhardt B. Fischer, Sr.
Benhardt B. Fischer, Sr., resident of San Rafael for nine years, died in San Diego on August 14, 2001 after a short illness. He was 85 years old. He moved to San Diego in early August to be near his son, Benhardt Fischer, Jr. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan Atkinson Fischer, last October.
Mr. Fischer was born in 1916 and graduated from The United States Naval Academy in 1939. He served in the Pacific during WWII.
The Fischers moved to the Philippines in 1949 where they lived for over 30 years. Mr. Fischer founded B.B. Fischer and Co. in 1959. They divided their time between Manila and Marin County from 1968 to 1975 and settled permanently in Marin in 1976.
He is survived by a son, Benhardt B. Fischer, Jr. of San Diego, a daughter, Erika Fischer of Washington, D.C. and four grandchildren, Trevor and Siri Masterson of Washington, D.C. and Alexa and Jordan Fischer of Spring Lake, Michigan.
As he wished, there will be no memorial service. His ashes will be scattered at sea. The family requests that memorial donations be made to San Diego Hospice, 4311 Third Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103-1407.
