Deirdre de Corsia of St. Helena
Deirdre deCorsia, 55, the Membership Director for Meadowood Napa Valley, died Friday, August 31, 2001 at her home in St. Helena of complications from cancer.
Deirdre was born on November 24, 1945, in New York City. Her family later relocated to California, where she lived during her childhood in the cities of Brentwood, Bel Air and Santa Barbara.
Deirdre attended Utah State College. She married Robert Stricker of Mill Valley in 1978, from whom she was later divorced.
She moved to Napa Valley in 1986 and joined the staff at Meadowood, a hotel and private club in St. Helena, as Chief Concierge. Through her work, she achieved a place in the prestigious organization, Les Clefs d'Or. In 1993 she assumed the position of Membership Director for Meadowood, becoming the chief liaison to club members and their families. During her tenure, Deirdre guarded and fostered the traditions of Meadowood, providing innumerable opportunities for families and friends to unite in meaningful activities and events. Her absence from the daily lives of Meadowood staff members and club members will be felt profoundly.
Deirdre is survived by her son, Alex Stricker of San Francisco, and her step-children, Gabriel Stricker of New York and Shanti Stricker-Bischop of Mendocino, her sister, Carey Cramer of Scottsville, Virginia, her niece, Elizabeth Glynn of Chicago, Illinois, and her parents, Rachel and Ambrose Cramer of Charlottesville, Virginia.
A celebration of Deirdre's life will be held at Meadowood, 900 Meadowood Lane, St. Helena, 963-3646, at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2001. At Deirdre's request and in her words, a "Celebratory Frolic" is being planned in her honor, which will begin with a time for those who loved her to share heartfelt comments. Meadowood Members, staff members, and friends are invited to attend. Please bring your children to Deirdre's celebration. Deirdre loved children and playfulness and she wished for people to join together as a community on this occasion and to have a good time with her in mind.
