WAYNE NORTHERN
Wayne W. Northern, 77, retired operating engineer, died yesterday at a local convalescent hospital after a short illness.
Northern was a native of Tennessee, Idaho, but spent most of his life in Petaluma. He had retired to San Francisco three years ago, but returned to Petaluma recently.
Northern had worked many years as an operating engineer and was a member of operating Engineers Union, San Francisco Local No. 3. He was an army veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; a daughter, Elizabeth Karela of Petaluma; two brothers, Sam Northern of Monte Rio and Howard Northern of Benecia; three sisters, May Massie of Petaluma, Norma Dressen and Peggy Corkrill of Santa Rosa; and two grandchildren.
Private funeral was held today in Petaluma, followed by inurnment at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.
