RICHARD G. LITTLEJOHN
Associate dean
Richard G. Littlejohn of Sausalito, associate dean at the School of Medicine at University of California at San Francisco, died of cancer at his home Wednesday, Oct. 3, 1990. He was 57.
Mr. Littlejohn had worked seven years as senior financial analyst at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Mr. Littlejohn joined the university staff in 1969 as the business and fiscal officer. He became associate dean for finance and planning in 1974 and associate dean for administration in 1984.
He was born in Port Washington, N.Y. He received a bachelor’s degree from City College of New York, a master’s degree in business administration from Dartmouth College and a doctorate in higher education from University of California at Berkeley.
In addition to his administrative work, he also was a lecturer in health policy at the medical school and taught financial management at the University of California School of Public Health in Berkeley.
Mr. Littlejohn belonged to many professional groups and was an especially active member of the Group on Institutional Planning and the Group on Business Affairs of the Association of American Medical Colleges. He served as western and national chairman of the organization.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Littlejohn, associate dean of the university’s school of dentistry; two daughters, Sally Arnett of Oakland and Kathi Littlejohn-Zabel of La Grange in Stanislaus County; a son, Richard G. Littlejohn Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.; and three granddaughters.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin, 2325 Union St. at Steiner, San Francisco.
