MURIEL G. TROOSTWYKE
England native
Muriel Gladice Troostwyke of Mill Valley died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 4,1990, at Marin General Hospital.
She was born in England and came to the United States in 1948. Mrs. Troostwyke lived in San Francisco and then moved to Marin County in the early 1950s.
She was a buyer for H. Liebes, a woman’s department store, from 1951 to 1969, when she retired. Mrs. Troostwyke and her husband opened a restaurant in 1975 called La Buffet in Mill Valley. They sold the restaurant in 1983.
She loved gardening and had many friends who enjoyed her English cooking.
Mrs. Troostwyke adopted many young people who came from Europe that didn’t have any families or close relatives to help them.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Troostwyke of Mill Valley; a sister, Margaret Pilkington of Harrogote, England.
A private service will be held for close friends.
The Neptune Society in San Rafael is handling arrangements.
