Killed By Fall From A Train
Well Known Mason Loses His Life on North Shore
William York, residing at 322 Turk Street, San Francisco, a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge, No. 44, F.&A.M., San Francisco, California Chapter, No. 5, Royal Arch Masons, and Naval Commandery, No. 19, of Vallejo, was killed shortly after midnight last Sunday by falling from a North Shore train.
Mr. York boarded the 11:35 train for Sausalito. The train was in charge of Conductor Brown and Brakeman Axtel. During the trip he insisted on remaining on the platform. Axtell warned him several times to step inside the car. When the train reached Sausalito, York was missing. A switch engine was sent up the track and at Waldo Point his remains were found, and brought to Coroner Sawyer.
The remains bore no mark of identification, by W. L. Brasswell of the North Shore railroad, while inspecting the scene of the accident, found a Knights Templar charm bearing in full the name of the deceased and showing his Masonic affiliations.
For 30 years Mr. and Mrs. York had been married and in that time the two had not been separated for 24 hours at a time.
Coroner Sawyer will hold an inquest tomorrow morning.
