Death of T. W. Tompkins
The news was received in San Rafael today of the death in Mexico of Thomas W. Tompkins, superintendent of the California mine, the stock of which is held principally in Marin County. Mr. Tompkins was the original locator of the property and arranged with certain local people to develop it. The mine, under his skillful management, has become very valuable, capitalists having recently offered a million dollars for it, subject to fuller examination. He was a thorough miner in every branch of the business and a man of the highest character and personal integrity. His death is felt not only by his family, but by the stockholders he served so faithfully as well.
