Treadwell’s Awful Deed
The people of Sausalito were shocked Thursday morning upon reading in the San Francisco papers of the suicide at Pasadena of James P. Treadwell, after having attempted to kill his handsome young wife. The Treadwells are well known in Sausalito, having lived in the Greggory cottage for the past 6 months. They left here about two weeks ago, but were to return in a week or two more. It is known that the life of the couple while here was not a happy one, for on two or three occasions, Mrs. Treadwell packed her trunk and went to her relatives in Petaluma. While here, he made an attempt to kill his wife. It was gossiped that the young husband was exceedingly jealous, and it is believed that insane jealousy, accentuated by drink, was the cause of the tragedy.
