WELTS, Robert V. (Dr.), of Belvedere, passed away April 7, 2002. Neptune Society, Novato, 415-898-1868.

Dr. Robert V. Welts
Died peacefully at his home in Belvedere, California on April 7, 2002. His amazingly kind, charming and endearing presence is and will be deeply missed by his family and friends everywhere. Dr. Welts (aka: The Young Dr. Welts and Dr. Bob), was born on November 23, 1920 in Mount Vernon, Washington. He graduated from High School in 1938, attended Skagit Valley Junior College and the University of Washington. After his graduation in 1942, he attended Northwestern Medical School, Chicago campus, where he was also in the Naval Reserves. He practiced Internal Medicine aboard ships, had a private practice in Palo Alto and eventually joined Kaiser Permanente. After his retirement, he volunteered his services for many years. Dr. Bob was a formidable opponent on the tennis courts of the Belvedere Tennis Club as well as at bridge tables the world around. He loved to travel and has left many wonderful journals of the visits and adventures he shared with his companions all over this globe. His "whirlwind" romance with Suzanne Austin began six years before their marriage in April of 1972. They were a deeply devoted and loving couple and could be seen walking their standard black poodle, Roger, along the streets of Belvedere and the Tiburon Green on many a day. Suzanne was his Precious and Bob was her Darling. He is survived by his brothers, Keith Welts of Seattle Washington and David Welts of Mount Vernon, Washington, his Step-son, Gregory Austin of Reno, Nevada, his Step-daughter, Susan Genevish of Tavernier, Florida as well as by many, many loving relatives and friends. A farewell gathering in memory of Dr. Bob will be held on April 27, 2002, 2:00 p.m. at 129 Golden Gate Avenue in Belvedere, California.
