Marin Girl Killed In Oregon Crash
Coed Dies When Car Hits Tree
A 17-year-old Ross girl was killed in Oswego, Ore., last night when a car in which she was riding hit a tree beside a city street.
Mary Deborah Chamberlain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boatner Chamberlain of Upper Road, Ross, was in Portland, Ore. for the summer. She was with a boy friend who was driving when the accident happened.
The youth, whose name was not learned here, was reported in serious condition in a Portland hospital.
Miss Chamberlain was staying with her godmother, Mrs. Howard Holman, and was attending the summer session at Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Oswego is a suburb of Portland.
She had been graduated last month from Dominican Upper School in San Rafael. She was a Sunday school teacher at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross.
The family moved to Ross from Portland 12 years ago.
Her father is a trust officer of the Pacific National Bank of San Francisco.
The family flew today to Portland where funeral services will be held. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Church Friday. The time has not been announced.
Miss Chamberlain is survived by her parents and a brother, David Chamberlain of Bend, Ore.
The family requests that memorial contributions be donations to the carillon fund for the Dominican Convent in San Rafael.
