ROBERT K. HOPSON

A private service for Robert Kenneth Hopson of Novato will be held Tuesday.

Mr. Hopson, 72, died Thursday at Novato Community Hospital.

Mr. Hopson, a retired clinical psychologist, was a native of New York. He had lived in Novato since 1983.

He earned a master’s degree in psychology from San Francisco State University and completed post-graduate work at the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Southern California.

Mr. Hopson was the founder and executive director of the West County Counseling Center in Huntington Beach, Orange County, and taught psychology and sociology at Fresno State University in Fresno.

He had a special interest in courses in drug diversion, drug prevention and family counseling.

Mr. Hopson served in the Army during World War II as a captain in the Air Corps attached to the 394th Flight Squadron in England.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, of Novato; a stepson, Gary Hopson of San Francisco; and a stepdaughter, Cindy Barnett of San Geronimo.
