ESSIE MAY SMALL
Essie Mae (sic) Small of Novato, a former schoolteacher, died yesterday at a local hospital after a long illness.
A native of Wyoming, she went on to attend the University of Utah. After graduation, she taught elementary school in Cedar City, Utah, and then in Evanston, Wyo.
She and her husband, Charles E. Small of Novato, were married 32 years.
He is a terminal operator for Texaco in Richmond.
They moved to California 12 years ago, living first in San Rafael and then in Novato, where they resided at 782 Storybook Court.
Survivors are her husband; a sister, Esther McCammon, of Incline Village, Nev.; two brothers, Kenneth Burdett of Ogden, Utah, and Seth Burdett of Fairfax.
Memorial service is Friday at 1 p.m. at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.
