William M. Perka of Mill Valley, owner of the Marin Manufacturing Co. of San Rafael, died yesterday in a San Francisco hospital after a short illness. He was 62.

Perka was born and reared in Connecticut. He came to Marin County in 1942 and worked at Marinship Shipyard in Sausalito during World War II. When the shipyard closed, he started in his own steel fabricating business which he operated up until the time of his death.

He was active with San Rafael sea scouts and helped the Scouts – both with work and money – to get their boat seaworthy.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation, Northern California Chapter, 399 Buena Vista Avenue East, San Francisco would be preferred by the family.
