Veteran Of Both Wars Dies At 58
John O. Bertoni, a San Rafael resident for 54 years who saw duty in both world wars, died yesterday in a San Francisco hospital where he had been confined for five months. He was 58.
Bertoni served with the U.S. Navy in World War I and with the Army in the second war. As a civilian he was a machinist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo.
A resident of 97 Clark street, Bertoni is survived by five sisters and three brothers – Mrs. C. Bettini, Mrs. E. Lambretti, Mrs. Manual A. Teixeira, Mrs. B. Bettini, Mrs. Marelli and Peter, Frank and George Bertoni.
Bertoni was a member of Wilkins Post 37, American Legion.
Funeral services will be at Keaton’s, San Rafael, Monday at 8:15 a.m., followed by a Requiem Mass at St. Raphael’s Church at 8:30.
Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Keaton Chapel.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the son of the late Vincent and Sabina Bertoni. Burial was in Golden Gate National Cemetery.
