Capt. Ward's Body
The badly decomposed body of a man was found on the coast at Fort Baker last Friday, and was brought to the morgue by Coroner Eden. The body was identified Saturday to be that of Capt. Ward, who went down with his ship, the Rio de Janeiro, February 22, 1901, almost one year and five months ago. The body was identified by a gold watch and a truss found on it.
Coroner Eden held an inquest Monday and the jury rendered a verdict in accordance with the above facts.
Coroner Eden shipped the body to San Francisco Tuesday to be buried at Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland.

Capt. Ward’s Body Found
The remains of the late Captain William Ward of the steamship Rio De Janeiro will find a final resting place in Raleigh, NC, where two brothers and two sisters reside. Telegraphic instructions were received from John Ward, brother of Captain Ward, requesting that the remains be forwarded without delay. George W. Lambley of San Francisco, an old friend of the Ward family, was entrusted with the sad task of forwarding the body. It was sent on an early train Tuesday morning from San Rafael. Coroner Eden still retains possession of the gold watch and other valuables found on Capt. Ward’s body, and as soon as he receives written instructions from the Ward family, he will turn over to Mr. Lambley the articles, who will forward them to relatives of the deceased.
