Howard J. Hoots Dies In San Rafael

Howard J. Hoots, for 50 years a general contractor in San Francisco, died yesterday of a heart attack at his home at 74 Circle road in San Rafael. He was 69.

Hoots was the contractor for a number of large buildings in San Francisco. He built the Sutro mansion near Ocean Beach in San Francisco and installed the ice rink and remodeled Sutro Baths.

Hoots is survived by his wife, Edna; two daughters and a son, Mrs. Doris Collier of San Francisco; Mrs. Beatrice Normanin and Richard Hoots of San Rafael; a sister, Miss Leona Hoots of San Rafael, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Noble Chapel at Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma. Friends may call at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael until 9 a.m. tomorrow.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the grandfather of Mary Ann, Cheryl, Linda and Deborah Hoots, and Patricia and William Collier; he was a native of Missouri.
