Gun Wound Fatal To Novato Rancher
Lloyd Linwood Lieb, 68-year-old Novato rancher, died last night at Marin General Hospital from a gunshot wound on his left arm and chest, apparently self-inflicted.
Deputy Sheriff Harold Goerndt found Lieb lying on the floor of his home at 1521 Hill road, his left arm partly shot off and wounds in his left chest.
The victim’s son, Wilford Henry Lieb, said he was working outside in the yard. His mother had gone upstairs, leaving his father alone downstairs. About 3 p.m. they heard an explosion and found Lieb lying on the bathroom floor.
The elder Lieb died in the hospital about five hours later.
The younger Lieb told officers his father had been released from a sanitarium in Belmont where he had been treated for a nervous condition. He was scheduled to reenter the sanitarium today.
The victim has another son who attends Oregon State College. Funeral arrangements are pending at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
