Uncle JOHN PLANK Passed Away
Closely Follows Death Footsteps of His Brother

Tomales, Feb. 2 - Death has invaded the same house twice within a fortnight. John Plank passed away at the Plank house Friday, January 31, after an illness of nearly a month. The deceased was a brother of F.A. Plank, who died two weeks ago. The two brothers died the same day of the week and at the same time of the day 3:05 p.m.

Mr. Plank was born in New York, June 1, 1827, and was therefore 74 years, and 8 months old at the time of his death. He came to California in the early 50's and spent some years in mining. He was also a noted hunter, having killed many grizzly bears, and elk, and other large game. At one time he owned a ranch near Tomales, but sold it, and returned to the east for a visit. On his return to the state, he settled in El Dorado County, where he lived up to the time of his removal to Tomales, which was about 5 years ago. He was unmarried, and feeling lonely in his mountain home, came here to spend his declining years with relatives.

Deceased was not so well known here as his brother, but he was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a man of sterling character, a good citizen and neighbor. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. White, pastor, officiating.
