JAMES P. NYHAN

Private services were held for James P. Nyhan, a longtime Mill Valley resident.

Mr. Nyhan, who was 79, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1988, at his home.

Mr. Nyhan was a native of San Francisco and lived on Tennessee Valley Road in Mill Valley for the past 46 years.

He was an independent cab owner in San Francisco, where he also owned several downtown apartment houses.

He was an accomplished equestrian who could often be seen riding in Tennessee Valley with his horse, Firecracker.

Mr. Nyhan was active in the Young Men’s Institute in San Francisco, and was instrumental in the creation of the YMI’s Educational Foundation. He was also a member of the Independent Cab Owners Association and the Apartment Managers Association in San Francisco.

Mr. Nyhan is survived by his wife, Leona Nyhan of Mill Valley; a sister, Julia Kline of San Francisco; and several nieces and nephews.
