Death's Messenger Passes Over the Valley
Death has taken Catherine Murphy, Timothy Murphy's devoted wife. A kindly woman whose large heart and kindly hand was always at the service of her friends and neighbors. Upon none had the blow fallen heavier than upon Tim, as those who know him best love to call him. The two had grown old together; they had learned to lean upon one another in sickness and in health. Poor Tim is all alone. The light of the candle of life went out at a single stroke of apoplexy. No lingering sickness tired out the patient or her friends. The beautiful mass of the mother church gave the soul a tempest for its long journey from the known to the unknown.
