WILLIAM MOFFAT
San Francisco – The last of the West’s great cattle barons, William H. Moffat, 87, died last night in a hospital from leukemia.
He was for 43 years president and manager of H. Moffat Co., meat packing plant here, founded in 1864 by his father, Henry Moffat.
In recent years he and his wife, Mary, made their home in the Reno area.
Moffat was long rated as a multi-millionaire holder of vast ranches and meat plants in California and Nevada.
He left his widow; two sisters, Henrietta Moffat and Mrs. Emma McLaughlin, and two daughters, Mrs. Adrienne Alexander and Mrs. George Patty Pope Jr.
