Her Last Long Sleep
At 5 o’clock last Monday morning, Mary Mullaney dropped off into her last sleep. Her sickness was not a protracted one. On October 22nd she quit school for a day or two, as was then supposed, to recover from a cold; but the days drew out into weeks and the cough lingered, and at last turned into consumption. Three short months had barely passed when death set upon poor Mary as she slept. She was a little more than 15, and beloved by her friends, teachers, and companions.
The funeral started from her home at about 10:30 o’clock on Wednesday. It went to the church, where high mass was said for the repose of her soul by the Reverend Father Valenti. The procession proceeded to Sausalito Cemetery where her lowly bed had been prepared.
The pallbearers were: Mabel Wosser, Nina Goldthwaite, Rita Quinn, Hazel Jones, Lenora Martoli, and Mary Cashmare.
