James B. Watson Answers Last Summons

Old father time summoned another one of our old citizens Monday. This time it was James B. Watson, who has been with us for thirty-three years and always bore the good will of his acquaintances.

The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon and the remains were taken to Fernwood cemetery where Rev. Father Valentini held services. The pall bearers were Paul Trouette, Geo. Smith, Michael Hannon, John Pedro, Joe Laurence and J. M. Jewett.

Mr. Watson was born In Philadelphia sixty-three years ago and followed the sea for many years, reaching as high as a second mate. He was the first deckhand on the steamer San Rafael which was run into by the steamer Sausalito and sunk in seventeen fathoms of water between Black Point and Alcatraz, Nov. 30, 1901. Watson, a few years ago was stricken with rheumatism and paralysis which carried him off.

He leaves a wife and two sons, Jas. B. and Ezekiel E. Watson, and a daughter, Miss Emma M. Watson, to mourn his death.
